Daimler Truck has chosen the expertise of global logistics leader DB Schenker to manage its newly established 19,000-square-meter warehouse in Melbourne, Australia.
This facility, located approximately 23 kilometres from Melbourne’s central business district and 20 kilometres from Tullamarine Airport, is strategically designed to bolster Daimler Truck’s supply chain capabilities across Australia and New Zealand. Stocking over 40,000 stock keeping units (SKUs) for truck and bus parts, ranging from small washers to complete truck cabs, the warehouse offers a comprehensive inventory.
“This warehouse is the first Daimler Truck operation in the world to stock parts for three different truck brands all under one roof. Daimler Truck Australia Pacific offers a vast range of class-leading vehicles covering every segment of the Australian road freight industry with its Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner and Fuso trucks, as well as Fuso buses. We were delighted to build on our long-term and productive relationship with Daimler Truck with the contract to operate this new warehouse,” stated Craig Davison, CEO of DB Schenker Australia and New Zealand Cluster.
Featuring more than 50,000 individual locations, including a 4,000 square meter mezzanine level and specialized racking for large truck cabs, the facility ensures efficient storage solutions. A sizable super awning spanning approximately 3,400 square meters protects from the elements during loading and unloading operations.
With a focus on sustainability, the warehouse boasts a five-star Green Star rating, incorporating initiatives such as electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, recycling programs, and LED lighting with motion sensors throughout the facility.
Aligned with DB Schenker’s global commitment to eco-friendly logistics, the warehouse underscores a dedication to a cleaner, more sustainable future. In addition to warehouse operations, DB Schenker also manages the leasing of the premises located in Melbourne’s West.
