Damietta Port recorded an 18% year-on-year increase in vessel calls in August 2026, with 316 ships handled compared with 267 vessels in the corresponding month last year, according to data from the Damietta Port Authority.

Container vessel calls increased 21% to 104 ships, while dry bulk vessel calls rose 28% to 95. General cargo vessel calls, however, declined 17% to 35 ships. Liquid bulk and RoRo vessel calls remained unchanged at 14 and four ships, respectively.

The port also recorded a 6% increase in total cargo throughput, which rose to approximately 3.54 million tonnes from 3.34 million tonnes a year earlier. Dry bulk cargo grew 11% to 1.62 million tonnes, while liquid bulk cargo surged 113% to 405,000 tonnes. RoRo cargo increased 152% to around 15,900 tonnes, and containerised cargo by weight rose 3% to 1.23 million tonnes.

Despite the growth in containerised cargo weight, container volumes declined 13% to around 130,000 units.
