The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) has achieved a new milestone in freight transportation, recording its highest-ever monthly Gross Tonne Kilometres (GTKMs) of 19,371 million in July 2026, marking a 21.73 per cent year-on-year growth compared with the corresponding month last year.
The record-breaking performance underscores the growing capacity, operational efficiency and reliability of India’s Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) network, which continues to transform the country’s freight logistics landscape by enabling faster, heavier and more efficient movement of cargo.
Gross Tonne Kilometres (GTKMs), a key performance indicator in rail freight operations, measures the movement of freight by taking into account both the weight of cargo and the distance travelled. The new record reflects rising freight volumes and improved utilisation of the DFC network.
DFCCIL said the achievement reinforces its commitment to developing a world-class freight transportation system that supports India’s expanding industrial and trade requirements while enhancing supply chain efficiency.
The Dedicated Freight Corridor has been instrumental in decongesting the conventional railway network, improving transit times, increasing train carrying capacity and providing a reliable logistics backbone for key sectors including manufacturing, agriculture, energy and exports.
The latest milestone further strengthens DFCCIL’s role in supporting the Government of India’s vision of building a modern, multimodal and globally competitive logistics ecosystem, contributing to economic growth and improved freight mobility across the country.
