    Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd (DFCCIL) has recorded its highest-ever freight interchange, with 927 trains handled in a single day.

    The milestone highlights the growing utilisation of India’s dedicated freight corridor network and its role in supporting the movement of goods across the country.

    Freight interchange involves the transfer of trains between different railway zones or operating sections, making efficient coordination critical for maintaining cargo flows and reducing delays.

    The record performance reflects increasing freight activity on the dedicated corridors, which are designed to provide faster and more efficient rail transportation for bulk commodities and containerised cargo.

    DFCCIL’s freight corridors are aimed at improving rail capacity, reducing congestion on conventional routes and strengthening connectivity between major production and consumption centres, ports and logistics hubs.

    Higher freight train interchange also supports the broader shift towards efficient rail-based logistics by enabling greater cargo movement through dedicated infrastructure.

    The latest milestone underscores the expanding operational role of dedicated freight corridors in India’s transport network as railways seek to increase freight capacity and improve supply-chain efficiency.
