The Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd. (DFCCIL) achieved a major operational milestone on 11 January 2026, recording its highest-ever interchange performance since the commissioning of the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) network.
On the landmark day, the combined Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) and Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) handled an impressive 892+2 trains, surpassing the previous record of 865+4 trains set on 04 January 2026.
The Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) delivered an exceptional performance, handling 392+2 trains, exceeding its earlier best of 380 trains recorded on 03 January 2026. This achievement highlights the growing operational maturity and efficiency of the WDFC in managing high-density freight traffic.
The record-breaking interchange performance underscores DFCCIL’s critical role in strengthening India’s freight and logistics ecosystem. Higher train handling capacity on the DFC network enables:
Faster and more reliable movement of goods across industrial, agricultural, and EXIM supply chains
Increased modal shift from road to rail, promoting safer, greener, and more cost-efficient logistics
Decongestion of Indian Railways’ passenger routes, resulting in smoother and more punctual passenger train operations
DFCCIL attributed this milestone to the coordinated and sustained efforts of teams across operations, control offices, maintenance units, and partner agencies, who work round-the-clock to ensure seamless freight movement.
The achievement reinforces the DFC network’s growing importance as the backbone of India’s future-ready freight infrastructure and a key enabler of national economic growth.
