The Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) has issued an important clarification regarding the migration of seafarer profiles to the newly launched e-Samudra portal, reassuring the maritime community that the transition will be seamless and user-friendly.
According to DG Shipping, seafarers are not required to update their complete profiles at this stage. For now, individuals only need to ensure that their mobile number and email ID are correctly updated on the existing DG Shipping portal. These contact details are crucial to receive official notifications and updates during the migration process.
DG Shipping has confirmed that all existing seafarer profiles will be automatically migrated to the e-Samudra portal. This automated process eliminates the need for any immediate action from seafarers, helping avoid confusion and unnecessary changes.
Once the migration is complete, seafarers will be able to update other profile details at a later stage, including personal information, certificates, and related records, directly on the e-Samudra platform.
Emphasising caution against misinformation, DG Shipping has advised seafarers to stay calm, remain informed, and rely only on official communications issued by the Directorate.
The migration to e-Samudra is aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, data security, and overall user experience, marking a significant step forward in the digital transformation of India’s maritime administration.
Seafarers are encouraged to keep their contact information up to date to ensure they receive timely alerts and important instructions related to their profiles and future services on the new portal.
