    The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) held an interactive meeting with a high-level delegation from Elegant Marine Services, led by Dr. Harry Banga, Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Caravel Group Limited, to explore avenues for advancing collaboration in shipping investments and seafarer skill development.

    The discussions focused on identifying strategic opportunities to strengthen India’s maritime capabilities, foster talent development, and support the country’s vision of building a globally competitive and sustainable shipping ecosystem.

    The meeting was held in the presence of Shri Shyam Jagannathan, I.A.S., Director General of Shipping, and Capt. S. I. Abul Kalam Azad, Nautical Advisor (I/c), Directorate General of Shipping.

    The Caravel Group delegation included Shri Angad Banga, JP, Group Chief Operating Officer, The Caravel Group; Capt. Rajalingam Subramaniam, Chief Executive Officer; Capt. Somasundar Nair, Executive Director; and Capt. Deepak Correa, Chief Operating Officer, Elegant Marine Services.

    The exchange reaffirmed a shared commitment to promoting maritime innovation, enhancing workforce excellence, and driving sustainable growth across the global shipping industry.
