DHL, FedEx and UPS are under investigation by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) over alleged antitrust violations.
Newswire Reuters reported that the local units of the three express giants were the focus of an investigation following a complaint from the Federation of Indian Publishers.
According to the report, the publisher federation alleged that the three companies, along with Aramex and some local firms, were deciding charges and controlling discounts.
Over the last few weeks, CCI has been reviewing emails as it investigates the fees companies charged for airport services.
A DHL Express spokesperson said that it was co-operating with the investigation.
“As this case is still under investigation, we cannot comment on specifics,” the spokes-person said. “DHL always operates in full compliance with all laws and regulations.”
A UPS spokesperson added: “We are cooperating fully, and as this is an ongoing, non-public investigation we cannot provide further detail.”
FedEx denied any wrong doing.
“FedEx categorically denies the allegations in the complaint. We are co-operating with the CCI in the recent investigation. However, as the investigation is ongoing, we cannot provide any further details or comment on this matter. We are committed to complying with all applicable laws and regulations,” said a FedEx spokesperson.
The CCI’s initially inquiry is said to have started back in October 2022.
