DHL Express has launched a new weekly direct air freight service between Bahrain and South Africa, marking an important expansion of its regional aviation network. The inaugural flight, operated by a Boeing 767 freighter, arrived at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.
The new service will strengthen connectivity between the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa, providing additional inbound and outbound cargo capacity through DHL’s Johannesburg Hub. It is designed to support growing trade flows and demand from sectors including healthcare, technology, manufacturing and cross-border e-commerce.
Bahrain’s strategic location between Africa, the Gulf and Asia further strengthens its role as a logistics gateway, while the new connection enhances access to DHL’s wider global network through major hubs including Hong Kong, Leipzig and Cincinnati.
