DP World Cochin’s International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) at Vallarpadam recorded its highest-ever monthly throughput in August 2026, handling 97,952 TEUs, marking a 51% year-on-year increase.
The record performance builds on sustained growth in container volumes at the terminal. ICTT handled 74,644 TEUs in June and 74,585 TEUs in July, before volumes surged to 97,952 TEUs in August.
Between June and August, the terminal also handled 51 ad hoc vessel calls, demonstrating its operational flexibility and ability to accommodate additional vessel traffic while maintaining high levels of efficiency. The performance comes amid continuing geopolitical disruptions affecting global shipping and trade routes.
Hemant Kumar Ruia, Country Manager, Subcontinent (India), DP World, said the record throughput and consistently strong volumes reflect the commitment of the terminal team and the confidence of customers in DP World Cochin.
He said ICTT’s state-of-the-art infrastructure and capacity enable it to accommodate large vessels, handle additional volumes and deliver high productivity, faster vessel turnaround and reliable cargo movement.
Ruia added that DP World will continue to strengthen Cochin’s position as a competitive trade gateway as India advances its maritime and logistics ambitions, supporting regional trade and economic growth.
DP World has also developed Kerala’s first Free Trade Warehousing Zone (FTWZ) at Cochin, described as the only facility of its kind in India co-located within a major port. The FTWZ has recorded strong customer adoption for storage, consolidation and distribution solutions supporting EXIM trade.
Together, the ICTT and FTWZ provide an integrated logistics proposition, strengthening connectivity and supply chain resilience for businesses in Kerala and the wider region.
