At the 2nd CII Gujarat Export Conclave held in Ahmedabad, Shri Nilabhra Dasgupta, IRS, Deputy Chairman, Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), underscored the importance of Gujarat’s ports in strengthening India’s position as a global export hub.

In his address, Shri Dasgupta shared strategies to enhance Gujarat’s competitiveness as a “Global Export Gateway” and highlighted the critical role of DPA as a trusted partner in facilitating this growth. He pointed out that Gujarat’s ports collectively handle more than 40% of India’s total cargo traffic, making the state a cornerstone of the nation’s maritime and trade ambitions.

A key focus of his speech was on DPA’s commitment to sustainability. He elaborated on the port’s ongoing and planned green initiatives, which include renewable energy integration, eco-friendly logistics solutions, and measures to minimize the environmental footprint of port operations. These initiatives, he noted, are not only vital for aligning with India’s net-zero goals but also serve as a model for responsible and future-ready port management.

The session drew vibrant discussions among delegates from the trade, logistics, and maritime sectors, who acknowledged the growing importance of sustainable port operations in enhancing India’s export competitiveness.

The conclave served as a platform for stakeholders to deliberate on policies, infrastructure, and innovations required to elevate Gujarat’s export ecosystem, with DPA reaffirming its role as a key driver of the state’s and the nation’s trade growth.
