The East Coast Railway (ECoR) loaded a total of 68.19 million tonnes of freight during April to June 2025 period, marking a 9.69 per cent increase from 62.2 million tonnes during the same period last year, an official said.

In June, freight load reached 23.15 million tonnes, showcasing an increase of 7.72 per cent compared to 21.49 million tonnes loaded in June last year.

According to the official, the current daily average freight loading by East Coast Railway stands at 0.75 million tonnes, keeping one of Indian Railways’ blue chip zones on track to achieve its annual target for this fiscal year.

The consistent growth, the official added, can be attributed to close coordination with freight customers across sectors such as coal, iron ore, cement, and fertilisers, along with efficient planning and improved operational management.
