Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has urged CMA CGM to expand its investments in the Suez Canal Economic Zone as part of Egypt’s strategy to strengthen its position as a regional logistics and maritime hub. The discussions focused on increasing cooperation in port operations, shipping services, logistics infrastructure and industrial development within the economic zone.

Egyptian officials highlighted the strategic importance of the Suez Canal Economic Zone in supporting global trade flows and attracting international investment in maritime and industrial sectors. The proposed expansion is expected to include logistics facilities, container handling infrastructure and supply chain services aimed at enhancing cargo movement through the Suez corridor.

Industry observers noted that deeper collaboration with global shipping and logistics companies could help Egypt boost foreign investment, create employment opportunities and strengthen its role in international trade networks. The move also reflects continued efforts to expand maritime infrastructure and improve competitiveness along one of the world’s busiest shipping routes.
