India’s engineering goods exports recorded strong growth in May, reaching $12.31 billion, supported by improved overseas demand and stronger performance across key product segments.
The sector posted a 24.48% increase compared with the previous period, reflecting a positive trend for manufacturers and exporters. Growth was driven by increased shipments of machinery, industrial equipment, transport-related products, and other engineering goods to international markets.
Exporters said steady demand from major trading partners, improved production capacity, and better global supply chain conditions helped boost outbound shipments. The performance highlights the continued importance of the engineering sector in supporting India’s merchandise export growth.
Industry representatives expect export momentum to continue, although global economic uncertainty, currency fluctuations, and trade policy changes remain factors that could influence future demand.
The strong May performance reinforces India’s position as a growing supplier of engineering products in global markets.
