Etihad Rail Freight has launched a direct cargo service connecting Fujairah with Abu Dhabi, strengthening rail connectivity between the UAE’s east coast and the capital.
The new service provides shippers with a direct rail option for moving cargo between Port of Fujairah and Abu Dhabi, supporting more efficient inland distribution and reducing reliance on road transport for eligible cargo flows.
The service is expected to strengthen connections between Fujairah’s maritime gateway and logistics facilities in Abu Dhabi, providing businesses with an additional transportation option for moving goods across the UAE.
The launch also supports the UAE’s broader strategy to develop an integrated freight network combining ports, rail and logistics infrastructure. Rail freight can help improve supply-chain efficiency by providing a dedicated alternative for the movement of larger cargo volumes.
The Fujairah–Abu Dhabi link is expected to support trade and logistics activity across the UAE while improving connectivity between major industrial, commercial and maritime centres.
Etihad Rail has been expanding its freight operations as the UAE develops its national railway network, with the aim of connecting key ports, logistics hubs and industrial areas through rail.
