EUROGATE has secured €82 million in funding to support terminal automation, advancing efforts to modernise its port operations and improve efficiency in container handling.

The funding is expected to support investments in automated technologies and terminal infrastructure, helping the company strengthen operational performance as ports respond to changing shipping demands and growing pressure to improve productivity.

Terminal automation has become an important part of port modernisation strategies worldwide. Automated equipment and digital operating systems can help terminals improve container movements, optimise equipment utilisation and enhance coordination between vessel operations and landside logistics.

For terminal operators, these technologies can also support more consistent operations, improve planning and help manage cargo flows during periods of high demand. However, successful implementation typically requires significant investment in equipment, software, infrastructure and workforce training.

EUROGATE operates container terminals in several European locations and plays a role in connecting international shipping services with regional supply chains. Modernising terminal operations is important as the container shipping industry continues to focus on efficiency, reliability and cost control.

The €82 million funding marks a financial step towards EUROGATE’s automation plans. The investment is expected to contribute to the company’s efforts to strengthen terminal capabilities and respond to the evolving requirements of shipping lines and cargo owners.
