The ministry of railways on Monday sanctioned final location survey (FLS) for construction of new line between Jajpur Keonjhar Road and Dhamra Port via Jajpur and Aradi (96km).
The survey will be conducted at a cost of Rs 2.4 crore.
It was a long-standing demand of people of Jajpur and Bhadrak districts.
They have been demanding this line for the last several years.
Recently, they staged demonstration and dharna in front of East Coast Railway (ECoR) headquarters here.
They have created a movement supporting the new railway line.
Besides, they have met several leaders to look into the matter and impose pressure on the government to take up the new line issue.
