Five major engineering and shipbuilding firms have submitted bids for a platform supply vessel (PSV) tender floated by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, intensifying competition in India’s offshore support vessel segment.

The bidders include Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), Larsen & Toubro (L&T), and Titagarh Rail Systems, all vying to secure the contract aimed at strengthening ONGC’s offshore logistics capabilities.

The tender is part of ONGC’s broader efforts to modernize and expand its fleet supporting offshore exploration and production activities. Platform supply vessels play a critical role in transporting equipment, supplies, and personnel to offshore rigs.

Industry experts note that the participation of multiple domestic players highlights growing capacity and competitiveness within India’s shipbuilding sector. The project is also expected to support the government’s push for indigenous manufacturing under maritime and energy initiatives.

The contract award is anticipated in the coming months following technical and commercial evaluations, with the selected bidder set to undertake vessel construction and delivery as per ONGC’s operational requirements.
