E-commerce firm Flipkart has announced the expansion of its quick commerce service, Flipkart Minutes, to Chennai.

The service will deliver daily essentials in 10 minutes through its Micro Fulfilment Centres (MFCs), located across 22 key areas in the city, including Velachery, Royapettah, Perambur, Saidapet and Avadi.

The assortment will also include groceries, mobiles, electronics along with a range of locally-popular brands, including Aavin, Arokya and Hatsun.

    Local partners

The company will also partner with more than a thousand local sellers and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) across Chennai to make fresh fruits and vegetables available to consumers.

“Launching Minutes in Chennai marks an important step in strengthening Flipkart’s quick commerce capabilities and extending our presence across regions. Quick commerce is seeing significant growth in Chennai with consumers prioritising value and convenience for purchasing daily essentials and other necessities. Tamil Nadu’s evolving market and growing digital participation make it a strategic location in this journey,” said Hemant Badri, Senior Vice-President and Head – Flipkart Minutes, Supply Chain, Customer Experience and E-commerce, Flipkart,

The MFCs complement Flipkart’s existing large-scale supply chain infrastructure in the region, which is spread across various locations, including grocery, large and non-large fulfilment centres.
