    Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) Regional Authority, Ludhiana, in association with the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) commenced the fourth batch of certification programme on exports in Ludhiana today.

    During the introductory lecture, Utpal Kumar Acharya, Joint DGFT Regional Authority (Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, J&K and Ladakh) said, “The objective of the initiative is to spread awareness on various aspects of export business. India as a country has great potential and is becoming an important player of the global supply chain system. The government is also undertaking various initiatives and policy reforms for strengthening the export ecosystem in India, various export-oriented schemes, such as One District One Product (ODOP) scheme, Product Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, district as export hub and many more are being introduced.” He added, “We have successfully conducted three batches of this programme earlier in Ludhiana and Amritsar and I am happy to share that a number of candidates, who undertook this programme, have ventured into the exports business after gaining the required knowledge and a couple of such candidates have also succeeded in getting good orders from overseas buyers.”

    Utpal Kumar Acharya during his interaction also explained the various export promotion schemes offered by DGFT with the participants along with the procedure and benefits of availing such schemes.

    Vinay Sharma, deputy director, FIEO, while interacting with participants said, “For the Centre’s ambition of making India a USD 5 trillion economy, the exports from India will play a major role. To align with the ambition, FIEO has also taken various key initiatives for the promotion of exports. FIEO organises more than 50 international trade exhibitions all across the world every year, covering almost all kinds of products. At FIEO, we also organise various business delegation visits to various trading block or countries to promote India’s exports, buyer-seller meets, etc. To address the exporters’ issues, FIEO works closely with departments like customs, GST, DGFT and banks through various joint working groups.”
