Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the progress of key infrastructure projects being implemented by the National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML), with a focus on Multi Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs), ropeway projects under the Parvatmala Programme, Wayside Amenities (WSAs) and Inter Modal Stations (IMS).
The meeting reviewed the status of 14 Multi Modal Logistics Parks being developed across the country. The Jalna MMLP has already been commissioned, while projects at Chennai, Indore, Bengaluru and Nagpur are currently under implementation. Several additional MMLPs are progressing through the Detailed Project Report (DPR) preparation and approval stages.
Progress under the Parvatmala Programme was also examined, covering 15 ropeway projects at various stages of implementation, award, appraisal and DPR preparation. Key projects include ropeway developments at Varanasi, Kedarnath, Hemkund Sahib Ji and Prayagraj, aimed at improving connectivity to major pilgrimage and tourist destinations.
The Minister also reviewed the Wayside Amenities Programme, under which 514 sites have either been awarded or are under the bidding process. Of these, 137 facilities are already operational, providing modern amenities to highway users. The government is accelerating the development of these facilities along major National Highway corridors to enhance traveller comfort and road safety.
In addition, the meeting assessed the progress of Inter Modal Station (IMS) projects at Katra and Tirupati, which are intended to improve seamless passenger connectivity through integrated transport infrastructure.
During the review, Gadkari directed officials to expedite project execution, address implementation challenges and ensure the timely delivery of modern logistics and passenger infrastructure, reinforcing the government’s commitment to strengthening India’s transport and logistics network.
