The delegations of the Gandhidham Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Kandla Tank Farm Owners Association paid a courtesy visit to Shri Ram Mohan Rao, Commissioner of Customs – Kandla, to felicitate him on the occasion of his retirement and to convey their heartfelt appreciation for his exemplary service.
Shri Rao, who held the post of Commissioner at Kandla – one of India’s most important port in terms of import-export volume – was widely commended for his outstanding leadership and steadfast commitment to improving the trade and customs interface. His tenure saw remarkable coordination between the Customs Department and the Trade fraternity, resulting in smoother trade facilitation while safeguarding national interests.
The delegation acknowledged Shri Rao’s extensive administrative experience, visionary policy execution, and collaborative approach that greatly benefited the EXIM sector and stakeholders in the region. He was particularly instrumental in driving reforms that streamlined customs procedures, improved transparency and promoted a cooperative environment with the Trade.
Recognizing Kandla Port’s distinction as the largest tank farm storage capacity port in Asia, Shri Rammohan Rao ensured focused attention to the customs-related requirements of liquid and chemical imports. The Kandla Tank Farm Owners Association expressed deep gratitude for his continuous support and proactive steps that enabled efficient and compliant operations in this crucial sector.
