Faculty members of Gujarat Maritime University participated in the MAHASAGAR Academy organised by Rashtriya Raksha University from April 20–24, 2026, at the university’s campus in Gujarat.

Held under the broader vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India’s MAHASAGAR initiative — “Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions” — the Academy focused on the theme “Eight Dimensions of Maritime Security Law.” The programme served as an important platform for discussions on maritime security, ocean governance, maritime law, the blue economy, and emerging strategic challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.

The Academy brought together policymakers, maritime experts, jurists, scholars, academicians, and industry practitioners for interdisciplinary dialogue and knowledge exchange on contemporary maritime issues.

Participation in the programme reflects Gujarat Maritime University’s continued commitment towards strengthening maritime capacity-building through academic excellence, strategic partnerships, and interdisciplinary learning. The initiative is expected to further enrich research, policy discussions, institutional collaborations, and future-ready maritime education aligned with India’s expanding maritime vision and regional security objectives.

GMU also expressed gratitude to Bimal N Patel for organising the international-standard capacity-building initiative and to Sanjeevi Shanthakumar for his continued encouragement towards academic engagement and maritime collaboration.
