Hong Kong Air Cargo (HKAC) is set to strengthen air cargo connectivity between India and Hong Kong with the launch of scheduled freighter services to Navi Mumbai International Airport from August 10, marking one of the first international cargo operations at Western India’s newest aviation hub.
The new service will operate every Monday, with flights departing from Hong Kong and return services leaving Navi Mumbai on the same day, providing exporters and importers with faster access to one of Asia’s largest cargo gateways.
Announcing the launch, Hong Kong Air Cargo said that establishing an early presence at Navi Mumbai International Airport will enhance its regional network while creating new trade opportunities between East and South Asia.
“By establishing an early footprint at Western India’s brand-new aviation hub, the route strengthens the airline’s regional network and opens lucrative trade lanes between East and South Asia,” the airline said.
To support its expansion in the Indian market, the airline has recently appointed Aeroprime as its General Sales and Service Agent (GSSA), reinforcing its strategy to tap into India’s rapidly growing air cargo sector.
Expanding Global Network
Alongside its India expansion, Hong Kong Air Cargo has been steadily growing its European network, driven largely by cross-border e-commerce demand. The carrier launched services to Milan Malpensa in October 2023, followed by Liège, Belgium in February 2024 and Oslo, Norway in September 2024.
The United Kingdom has become a key market for the airline, with services introduced to London Stansted in February 2024, Birmingham in October 2024, Glasgow Prestwick in February 2025, and East Midlands Airport in November 2025. Earlier this year, the carrier also commenced scheduled operations to Larnaca International Airport in Cyprus.
However, the airline noted that cargo volumes between Hong Kong and Europe have softened in recent weeks following the European Union’s introduction of new charges on e-commerce parcels, impacting one of the region’s key freight segments.
The launch of the Navi Mumbai service reflects Hong Kong Air Cargo’s continued focus on expanding its Asian network while positioning itself to capture growing trade flows between India, Hong Kong and the wider global market.
