Leading industry bodies in Coimbatore have welcomed the Tamil Nadu Government’s 2026-27 Budget, praising its emphasis on transparent governance, industrial development, agriculture, education and logistics infrastructure.
The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore (ICCIC) hailed the government’s commitment to implementing public projects through an open tendering system, describing it as a significant reform that would improve transparency, curb corruption, promote fair competition and create greater opportunities for industries and MSMEs.
ICCIC also appreciated the government’s focus on agriculture, particularly the ₹102-crore special package to promote paddy cultivation and food grain production across 29 non-delta districts. Covering the kar, kuruvai and sornavari cropping seasons over nearly 34 lakh acres, the initiative is expected to strengthen food security, support farmers and boost rural economic development.
The chamber further welcomed the ₹44,527-crore allocation for school education, including ₹2,000 crore for free laptops and continued student welfare initiatives, stating that these investments would help build a skilled workforce essential for the state’s long-term industrial and economic growth.
Meanwhile, the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA) praised several industry-focused announcements aimed at enhancing Tamil Nadu’s manufacturing competitiveness.
Among the key measures welcomed by CODISSIA are the rollout of TN Single Window 3.0 to accelerate industrial approvals, the introduction of a new industrial policy focused on advanced manufacturing and deep technology, the establishment of five new Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) with an investment of around ₹90 crore, and plans to install 20,000 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the state.
The association also appreciated the government’s initiatives to provide specialised training in EV and battery maintenance and its proposal to develop multi-modal logistics parks, stating that these measures would strengthen industrial infrastructure, improve logistics efficiency and support Tamil Nadu’s transition towards advanced manufacturing and sustainable mobility.
Industry bodies said the budget reflects a balanced approach that combines governance reforms, industrial expansion, workforce development, agricultural support and infrastructure creation, reinforcing Tamil Nadu’s position as one of India’s leading manufacturing and investment destinations.
