Import and export activities between Bangladesh and India through the Benapole and Sonamasjid land ports will remain suspended for several days on account of Durga Puja, the biggest festival of the Hindu community.

According to Benapole Port Director Shamim Hossain, trade operations at the port will be closed for five days starting Sunday and will resume on October 4. He clarified that internal activities at Benapole Customs House and port will continue during this period, enabling clearance of goods and the return of Indian trucks.

Meanwhile, Ruhul Amin, General Secretary of the Sonamasjid Land Port C&F Agents Association, confirmed that operations at Sonamasjid will remain suspended for eight days until October 3, owing to Durga Puja, a government holiday, and the weekly holiday.

Movement of passengers with valid documents will continue uninterrupted at both ports during the festive break.
