The Department of Posts has embarked on a new role as a logistics service provider for the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) platform, marking a significant milestone in its operations. On January 13, 2026, it successfully processed its first shipment order for UdyamWell, an initiative bolstering Indian entrepreneurship through ONDC. This development emphasizes the convergence of traditional postal services with modern digital commerce frameworks.

With integration into the ONDC network, vendors using ONDC-enabled applications can now select the Department of Posts for their logistics needs, including parcel pickup, booking, transmission, and delivery across the country. This is facilitated by the extensive postal network and advanced technology-driven logistics systems that the department operates.

Currently, services are operational under the ‘Click & Book’ model, which allows sellers to generate digital pickup requests and choose the Department of Posts as their logistics partner, streamlining the process of parcel collection and delivery. This innovative approach aims to provide seamless support to artisans, farmers, and rural entrepreneurs at the forefront of a digitally-driven marketplace.
