Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the country’s largest Gatishakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal in Manesar, Haryana. Spanning an expansive 45 acres, the terminal is poised to revolutionise freight movement, aligning with the government’s vision of a seamless, multimodal logistics network. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to handle a staggering capacity of 4.5 lakh vehicles, underscoring its pivotal role in enhancing the efficiency of goods transportation across the nation.
The terminal’s strategic location in Manesar, a burgeoning industrial hub, positions it as a critical node in the national supply chain, facilitating swift and cost-effective movement of goods. Minister Vaishnaw highlighted that the inauguration of this terminal marks a significant milestone in the government’s ambitious plan to establish 500 multi-modal cargo terminals under the PM Gati Shakti initiative. With 108 terminals now operational or nearing completion, the project is set to transform India’s logistics landscape, fostering economic growth and enhancing competitiveness in the global market.
The rapid progress of these terminals is attributed to the reforms introduced in 2021, which streamlined approval processes and incentivised private sector participation. By reducing bureaucratic hurdles and offering attractive incentives, the government has successfully attracted investments, expediting the development of these critical infrastructure projects. Beyond its capacity and strategic location, the Manesar terminal exemplifies the government’s commitment to sustainable development. Incorporating eco-friendly technologies and practices, the terminal aims to minimise its environmental footprint, aligning with the broader objective of creating zero-net-carbon, eco-friendly, and sustainable urban spaces.
The terminal’s inauguration was graced by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who lauded the collaborative efforts between the central and state governments in realising this project. He emphasised that such infrastructure developments are instrumental in driving regional economic growth, creating employment opportunities, and improving the overall quality of life for residents. As India continues to invest in its logistics infrastructure, the Manesar Gatishakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal stands as a testament to the nation’s commitment to modernising its supply chain, enhancing economic resilience, and fostering sustainable development. With the completion of this terminal, stakeholders anticipate a significant reduction in logistics costs, improved supply chain efficiency, and a more robust economic framework.
Looking ahead, the successful implementation of the Manesar terminal serves as a model for future projects under the PM Gati Shakti initiative. By leveraging technology, fostering public-private partnerships, and adhering to sustainable practices, India is poised to establish a world-class logistics network that meets the demands of a dynamic and growing economy. In conclusion, the inauguration of the Manesar Gatishakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal marks a pivotal moment in India’s infrastructure development journey. It not only enhances the nation’s logistics capabilities but also sets the stage for a more connected, efficient, and sustainable future.
