India’s whole cardamom exports have recorded remarkable growth since FY24, with export volumes doubling and export value tripling, reflecting strong global demand for the premium spice. The sharp increase has been driven by higher overseas consumption, improved quality standards, and rising prices in international markets.
The robust performance highlights the growing competitiveness of Indian cardamom in key export destinations across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. Exporters have also benefited from improved crop management practices, better post-harvest handling, and enhanced market access initiatives that have strengthened India’s position in the global spice trade.
Industry stakeholders said the sustained rise in exports has boosted earnings for growers and exporters while reinforcing India’s reputation as a leading supplier of high-quality whole cardamom. They expect demand to remain firm in the coming months, supported by increasing consumer preference for natural spices and expanding opportunities in premium international markets.
The strong export growth is expected to contribute positively to India’s overall spice exports, with the sector continuing to focus on quality enhancement, value addition, and diversification into new global markets.
