WiseTech Global and Hapag-Lloyd have launched a pilot project to deploy IoT-enabled container tracking, aimed at improving real-time visibility across containerised supply chains.

The pilot integrates IoT tracking devices with WiseTech’s logistics software platform and Hapag-Lloyd’s container fleet, enabling continuous monitoring of container location and condition. The solution is designed to provide shippers with enhanced data on transit status, dwell times, and potential disruptions.

According to the companies, the pilot will test the scalability and reliability of IoT-based tracking across multiple trade lanes, supporting better decision-making and exception management. The initiative also seeks to improve supply chain transparency and operational efficiency.

Industry observers said IoT-enabled container visibility is gaining traction as shippers demand more accurate, real-time information to manage increasingly complex global supply chains.

WiseTech and Hapag-Lloyd said insights from the pilot will be used to evaluate broader deployment across services in the future.
