The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) celebrated the International Day of Yoga with a special event on the Brahmaputra Waterway in Assam, combining wellness activities with efforts to promote inland water transport awareness.

The programme highlighted the importance of sustainable mobility and the role of inland waterways in supporting greener transportation solutions. Participants took part in yoga sessions while experiencing the significance of the Brahmaputra as a key national waterway.

The event reflected IWAI’s broader initiatives to create awareness about the potential of inland waterways for passenger movement, cargo transportation, and regional connectivity.

The Brahmaputra, recognised as one of India’s important inland waterways, continues to play a vital role in Assam’s logistics network, supporting trade and improving access to remote areas.

Through such initiatives, IWAI aims to encourage public engagement with waterways while promoting sustainable development and healthier lifestyles.
