Kamarajar Port Limited (KPL) has taken a significant step towards strengthening India’s container handling capacity with progress on its proposed Second Container Terminal project.
Following the issuance of an Expression of Interest (EOI) on 10 December 2025, KPL successfully conducted a Pre-Application Conference on 22 December 2025. The conference drew strong participation from leading terminal developers and key stakeholders representing major ports across the country.
According to KPL, the interactive session facilitated a meaningful exchange of views, allowed potential bidders to seek clarifications, and provided deeper insights into the project’s scope and development framework. Discussions also underscored the strategic importance of the proposed terminal in enhancing container handling capacity, operational efficiency, and multimodal connectivity.
The proposed Second Container Terminal is expected to play a crucial role in supporting growing trade volumes and reinforcing Kamarajar Port’s position as a key gateway on India’s east coast.
KPL reiterated its commitment to developing world-class port infrastructure and contributing to India’s long-term maritime growth and logistics competitiveness.
