V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority (VOC Port), Tuticorin, has marked another significant milestone in operational excellence with the successful and swift handling of a large coal consignment.
Bulk carrier MV SEA JUNO discharged a total of 72,205 tonnes of coal at North Cargo Berth–2 and the 7th Berth in an impressive 58 hours and 55 minutes, including berth shifting operations. The achievement underscores the port’s growing efficiency in handling high-volume bulk cargo within tight timelines.
The operation was executed through meticulous planning, swift cargo evacuation using harbour mobile cranes, and seamless coordination among multiple stakeholders, including terminal operators, pilots, marine staff, stevedores, and logistics partners. Despite the complexity involved in handling large coal volumes and berth shifting, operations were completed smoothly without disruption.
Port officials highlighted that the performance reflects VOC Port’s continued focus on enhancing productivity, optimizing resource utilization, and ensuring reliability in service delivery. The achievement further strengthens the port’s position as a key bulk cargo hub on India’s east coast.
With consistent improvements in operational efficiency and infrastructure capabilities, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting India’s trade and industrial supply chains through faster vessel turnaround and world-class port services.
