Kamarajar Port Limited (KPL) hosted delegates from the Directorate General of Shipping and the Indian Ocean Memorandum of Understanding (IOMOU) Port State Control (PSC) team as part of the Second Expert Mission Training Programme on Port State Control.
The field visit, held on February 17, was aimed at providing academic enrichment and practical exposure to strengthen professional competencies in Port State Control procedures and regulatory compliance frameworks. The programme forms part of broader efforts to enhance inspection standards and reinforce adherence to international maritime conventions.
During the visit, delegates conducted detailed inspections of two vessels berthed at the port. The exercise offered hands-on experience in evaluating shipboard safety measures, statutory certifications, crew compliance, and operational best practices in line with global maritime safety norms.
The interaction also enabled knowledge exchange between port officials and PSC inspectors on inspection protocols, risk assessment methodologies, and evolving compliance requirements under international maritime regulations.
KPL reiterated its commitment to supporting capacity-building initiatives and fostering a safe, secure, and compliant maritime ecosystem aligned with international standards.
