Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has taken a significant step toward strengthening India–Europe maritime cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Grand Port Maritime de Marseille Fos (GPMM), reinforcing strategic port-to-port collaboration and trade connectivity.
The MoU was signed by Hervé Martel, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of Port of Marseille Fos, and Smt. Manisha Jadhav, General Manager (Admin) and Secretary, JNPA.
The agreement aims to enhance bilateral trade and maritime flows between India and Europe through closer cooperation between JNPA and Marseille Fos. It also sets the foundation for joint initiatives in port innovation, digital transformation, energy transition, and operational excellence.
Under the partnership, both ports will engage in technical exchanges and capacity-building programmes focused on port digitalization, smart port platforms, data interoperability, and sustainable operations. Key areas of collaboration include the adoption of alternative fuels such as LNG and hydrogen, the development of Onshore Power Supply (OPS) infrastructure, and the promotion of low-carbon bunkering solutions.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to building sustainable, technologically advanced, and globally integrated port ecosystems. The MoU further strengthens JNPA’s positioning as a critical gateway for India’s international trade while deepening maritime ties between India and Europe.
