Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) has expanded its pioneering Roll-on Roll-off (Ro-Ro) service to private car owners with the launch of a new route between Kolad in Maharashtra and Verna in Goa.

The service will commence on August 23 from Kolad and August 24 from Verna, operating on alternate days in each direction until September 11. Departures are scheduled at 5:00 pm, with arrival at 5:00 am the following day. Passengers must report by 2:00 pm for loading and boarding formalities.

The specially designed rake can carry up to 40 cars per trip, with two cars accommodated on each of the 20 wagons. The freight charge has been set at ₹7,875 (inclusive of GST) per car, along with a one-time registration fee of ₹4,000 payable at booking.

Passengers also have the option of traveling with their vehicles, with a maximum of three persons per car allowed in either a 3AC coach at ₹935 per passenger or second seating at ₹190 per passenger.

With this launch, KRCL aims to offer private car owners a hassle-free and time-saving alternative to road travel on the busy Konkan route.
