Lila Global has completed the acquisition of an Indian-flagged Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC), structured through the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City). The transaction highlights the growing use of India’s international financial hub for maritime financing and strategic vessel investments.

Industry observers note that the deal strengthens Lila Global’s tanker portfolio while leveraging the regulatory and tax benefits offered by GIFT City, which aims to facilitate global-standard shipping and finance transactions within India.

The newly acquired VLCC will enhance Lila Global’s crude transport capacity, supporting both domestic and international energy logistics, and reflecting a broader trend of structured maritime investments through India-based financial platforms.
