Hyderabad-based aerospace and logistics startup LogiXair has secured seed funding from GrowthCap Ventures, alongside angel investors with professional backgrounds at Honeywell Aerospace, to advance the development and commercialisation of autonomous hybrid-electric cargo aircraft. The investment is aimed at strengthening India’s emerging aerial logistics network and expanding the company’s reach into domestic and international markets.
Founded by Bhanu Teja Chidura and Pulla Kapil, LogiXair is developing autonomous vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft designed to transport cargo between major cities, industrial hubs and Tier II and Tier III cities without relying on conventional runways.
Aircraft designed for regional cargo movement
The company’s L560 aircraft is designed to carry up to 300 kg of cargo over a distance of 600 km. The platform combines hybrid-electric propulsion with modular cargo containers, autonomous ground-handling systems and fleet-management software.
The technology is intended to provide an additional transportation option for short-haul and middle-mile logistics, particularly where conventional road, rail and airport infrastructure may limit delivery speed or flexibility.
LogiXair has validated its hybrid-electric powertrain, flight-tested scaled prototypes and developed six intellectual property assets, with its technology reported at Technology Readiness Level 6 (TRL 6). The company also works with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and other aerospace and defence original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Funding to support technology development
The newly secured investment will support further engineering development, technology validation and commercialisation. The company also plans to explore partnerships across logistics, industrial and strategic sectors.
Defence and offshore logistics could provide initial applications for the platform, followed by broader commercial cargo transportation. The company is also targeting potential opportunities in Europe and Asia-Pacific markets.
GrowthCap Ventures said LogiXair’s engineering progress and development of an integrated aerial logistics platform were key factors behind its investment.
The funding reflects growing investor interest in India’s deep-tech and aerospace sectors, where autonomous aviation could offer new solutions for regional freight movement. However, commercial deployment will depend on further technical validation, regulatory approvals and the development of viable operating networks.
If successfully commercialised, LogiXair’s aircraft could provide logistics operators with an additional option for moving time-sensitive and high-priority cargo across regional routes.
