Lufthansa Cargo, WiseTech Global and IBS Software have successfully completed one of the first large-scale, multi-stakeholder implementations of the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) ONE Record standard, marking a significant milestone in the digital transformation of the global air cargo industry.

The initial use cases demonstrated seamless processing of Master Air Waybill (MAWB) data using the ONE Record standard, enabling shipment information to be securely shared and processed between freight forwarders and the airline through standardized API-based data exchange.

In the pilot, shipment records created by a freight forwarder on WiseTech’s CargoWise platform at the Master Air Waybill level were successfully transmitted and processed within Lufthansa Cargo’s system via the IBS Software ONE Record server.

Lufthansa Cargo said the achievement represents an important step toward faster, more transparent and resilient cargo transportation across the global supply chain.

WiseTech Global is a leading logistics software provider used by freight forwarders worldwide, while IBS Software provides Lufthansa Cargo’s cargo management platform.

Jasmin Kaiser, Head of Information Management and Chief Data Officer at Lufthansa Cargo, said the airline has been actively advancing the adoption of ONE Record for several years to enable more efficient and paperless data exchange across the air cargo ecosystem.

“Following several pilot projects, we are now ready to connect to customers and partners even faster and more efficiently at scale. Furthermore, this seamless data exchange lays the foundation for introducing further digital benefits and AI-powered services,” Kaiser said.

The collaboration is among the first large-scale implementations of the ONE Record standard since its rollout in January 2026. Developed by IATA, the standard aims to modernize air cargo data exchange by replacing traditional document-based messaging with standardized API connectivity across the supply chain.

According to Lufthansa Cargo, the new framework enables freight data to be validated and processed within participating companies’ own systems before cargo is transported. It also supports the exchange of significantly richer shipment information and multiple file formats compared with legacy systems.

The enhanced data-sharing capability is expected to improve shipment-level visibility, enable proactive operational management and strengthen collaboration among airlines, freight forwarders and logistics partners.

Elias Hatzigeorgiou, Senior Product Manager at WiseTech Global, said the initiative demonstrates the industry’s move toward a unified digital data ecosystem.

“By replacing fragmented communications with a standardised, single source of truth for shipment data, ONE Record will unlock new levels of transparency, efficiency and collaboration across the global air cargo supply chain,” he said.

The successful implementation highlights the growing momentum behind industry-wide digitalization efforts and reinforces ONE Record’s role as a foundation for future innovations, including AI-driven services, automated workflows and end-to-end visibility across the air cargo logistics network.
