Maersk has reduced its terminal handling charge in Mexico to $120, lowering the cost applied to eligible container shipments handled through Mexican ports.
The adjustment forms part of the carrier’s latest revision of local charges and is expected to reduce terminal-related costs for customers moving cargo through Mexico.
Terminal handling charges cover costs associated with the handling and processing of containers at port facilities. Changes to these fees can have a direct impact on the overall landed cost of imported and exported cargo.
The revised $120 charge will apply according to Maersk’s applicable service terms, container type, trade lane and local conditions. Customers are advised to check the carrier’s latest tariff information for the effective date and specific shipment conditions.
The move comes as ocean carriers continue to adjust local and destination charges in response to changes in port costs, operating expenses and competitive market conditions.
