Maersk is temporarily adjusting booking acceptance and cargo flows to Khor Fakkan, Fujairah and selected Upper Gulf destinations amid continued disruption around the Strait of Hormuz and congestion at regional ports.
The shipping major said the prevailing operational challenges are affecting cargo movement and delivery schedules, prompting temporary changes to its booking and cargo-handling arrangements.
Existing Bookings
Customers with affected bookings will be contacted directly by their Maersk representatives with shipment-specific updates and guidance on the next steps. Alternative arrangements will also be discussed wherever applicable.
Cargo in Transit
Shipments already in transit remain subject to delays due to the prevailing conditions. Maersk representatives will provide the latest available shipment status, while revised onward movement or delivery dates will be communicated once they can be confirmed.
New Bookings
Maersk will continue accepting bookings based on available capacity. However, revised bookings will not automatically be transferred to a subsequent sailing.
Where operationally feasible, the company will discuss alternative shipping arrangements with customers, including expected schedules and applicable additional costs. All options will remain subject to prevailing operational conditions and capacity availability.
Continued Monitoring of Operational Conditions
Maersk said it is continuously reviewing the temporary measures as the situation evolves and will keep customers informed of relevant developments.
The company acknowledged that the changes could affect customers’ shipment plans and delivery commitments, adding that its teams remain focused on providing guidance and assessing available options to minimise supply chain disruptions.
