Maersk has updated the peak season surcharge (PSS) applicable to cargo moving on its F3W service, revising the additional charge as part of its latest pricing adjustment.

The F3W service connects key ports across its trade network, and the surcharge revision is expected to affect shippers using the service during the applicable peak period.

Peak season surcharges are typically introduced or adjusted by carriers to manage higher operational costs and increased demand for container capacity during periods of elevated cargo volumes. Changes can affect the overall freight cost for exporters and importers.

Maersk’s latest adjustment will require customers and freight forwarders to review the revised surcharge levels when calculating shipment costs. The applicable amount may vary depending on the origin, destination, container type and other service conditions.

The revision comes as container carriers continue to adjust freight rates and surcharges in response to market conditions, vessel capacity, fuel costs and changes in cargo demand.

For businesses shipping through the F3W network, the updated PSS will form part of the total transportation cost and may influence booking and routing decisions during the peak period.

Customers are advised to check Maersk’s latest tariff information for the effective date and specific surcharge applicable to their shipments.

The adjustment highlights the continued use of peak season surcharges by carriers to manage capacity and operating costs during periods of stronger demand.
