The Maharashtra government approved the Maharashtra Logistics Policy 2024 in a cabinet meeting on Wednesday. The policy, developed with guidance from the State Economic Advisory Council, aims to create 500,000 jobs and generate Rs 30,573 crore in revenue over the next decade.
The policy includes an Integrated Logistics Master Plan focused on optimizing logistics networks and infrastructure.
Key projects include an international logistics hub in the Navi Mumbai-Pune region, connected to the Panvel International Airport, and a national hub in Nagpur-Wardha, linked to the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway. Five state and five regional logistics hubs will also be established, with a total budget of Rs 7,000 crore.
The policy aims to reduce logistics costs by 4% to 5%, cut operational time, and lower carbon emissions through green initiatives and advanced technologies like AI and blockchain. Financial incentives, including subsidies and exemptions, will be offered to the first 100 logistics parks in each district. Additionally, 25 district logistics nodes will be created, with space reserved in MIDC areas for private logistics nodes.
