In a glittering ceremony held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre during the India Maritime Week, the Hon’ble Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, unveiled the logo of the Indian Maritime Centre (IMC). The event was graced by the Hon’ble Minister of State, Shri Shantanu Thakur, Secretary (MoPSW) Shri Vijay Kumar, Special Secretary Shri Rajesh Sinha, Chairman, IPA Shri Sunil Paliwal, Joint Secretary (Ports) Shri R. Lakshmanan, and other distinguished dignitaries.
The newly unveiled logo embodies the collaborative, innovative, and forward-looking vision of India’s maritime community. It symbolizes the nation’s collective journey towards a future defined by maritime excellence, sustainability, and international cooperation.
Speaking on behalf of the Board of Directors, Shri Devki Nandan, Chairman of the Indian Maritime Centre, expressed gratitude to the Hon’ble Minister for unveiling the logo. He remarked,
“As the unified voice of Maritime India, IMC will amplify the ambition and value proposition of India’s maritime industry across the world and support the realization of the vision of Viksit Bharat. The release of the logo by the Hon’ble Minister sends a powerful message across the maritime fraternity and resonates globally.”
Shri Devki Nandan also thanked the Board Members and the IMC management team for their dedicated efforts in achieving this milestone.
Established on September 27, 2024, under the patronage of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, the Indian Maritime Centre has been mandated to pursue the goals outlined in the Maritime India Vision 2030 (MIV 2030) and Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 (MAKV 2047). IMC aims to position India as a formidable global maritime leader by fostering collaboration, innovation, and capacity building across the sector.
From its modest beginning with seven founding members, the IMC has now grown into a robust body of 40 members, representing government agencies, major and non-major ports, shipyards, shipping lines, freight forwarders, coastal shipping operators, logistics and ship management companies, seafarers, and maritime institutions — truly reflecting the diversity and strength of India’s maritime ecosystem.
