Mersin International Port (MIP) has achieved a significant milestone with the successful berthing of the 400-meter mega container vessel MSC DITTE at its newly completed East Med Hub 2 (EMH2) Terminal. The arrival of the vessel marks a new chapter in the port’s operational capability and reinforces its position as a major maritime gateway in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The berthing of MSC DITTE, one of the largest vessels to call at Mersin, showcases the enhanced capacity, advanced infrastructure, and strategic readiness of the EMH2 Terminal. Designed to handle next-generation container ships, EMH2 offers expanded berthing depth, state-of-the-art equipment, and increased storage and handling efficiency.

Port authorities highlighted that this achievement not only underscores MIP’s growing role as a regional transshipment hub but also reflects the port’s continuous investments in strengthening Turkey’s maritime logistics network.

The milestone call of MSC DITTE is expected to pave the way for more mega vessels to include Mersin in their service routes, enhancing trade connectivity and boosting economic activity across the region.
