A high-level review meeting chaired by Vijay Kumar, Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW), brought together heads of organisations and senior officials to deliberate on new ideas and strategic interventions aimed at strengthening India’s maritime sector.

Held virtually, the meeting focused on identifying innovative approaches to enhance operational efficiency, boost sectoral performance, and accelerate growth across ports, shipping, and inland waterways. The Secretary emphasised the need for forward-looking strategies, improved coordination among stakeholders, and the adoption of technology-driven solutions to maintain momentum in the sector’s development.

A key agenda of the meeting was the review of progress on action points arising from the Prime Minister’s Sector Review for 2024–25. Officials presented updates on the implementation status of critical initiatives, highlighting achievements as well as areas requiring further attention. The discussions underscored the importance of timely execution, accountability, and measurable outcomes in line with national priorities.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to fostering innovation, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring sustained growth in the maritime domain. The review also reinforced the government’s broader vision of positioning India as a global maritime hub through infrastructure modernisation, policy reforms, and improved ease of doing business.

Senior officials and heads of major port authorities and maritime organisations participated in the meeting, contributing insights and recommendations to drive the sector forward.
