Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) is restructuring its transatlantic service network by suspending its Transatlantic NEUSEC2 service and integrating several of its port calls into the EcuadorNWC-USA service, according to maritime consultancy Alphaliner.
As part of the network overhaul, the ports of Le Havre, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Savannah will be added to the westbound leg of the EcuadorNWC-USA service, strengthening MSC’s connectivity between Northern Europe, the US East Coast and the west coast of South America.
The revised EcuadorNWC-USA rotation will be:
Antwerp – Bremerhaven – Antwerp – Le Havre – New York – Philadelphia – Baltimore – Norfolk – Savannah – Freeport (Bahamas) – Balboa – Paita – Guayaquil – Puerto Bolívar – Guayaquil – Colón (Cristóbal) – Moín – Antwerp.
As part of the restructuring, St. Petersburg will no longer be served by the EcuadorNWC-USA service, while Rotterdam, Charleston and Jacksonville will also be removed from the port rotation.
According to Alphaliner, the changes are designed to consolidate MSC’s transatlantic coverage by absorbing the ports previously served by the suspended NEUSEC2 service into the EcuadorNWC-USA loop. The revised network is expected to simplify MSC’s service structure while maintaining connectivity across key European, North American and Latin American trade lanes.
The restructuring reflects MSC’s continued efforts to optimise its global liner network in response to evolving trade patterns and operational requirements.
