Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, marked a significant milestone with the maiden call of MV ESL Shekou under Emirates Shipping Lines’ ECSX Service at the Kandla International Container Terminal (KICT) on June 18, 2026. The vessel’s arrival underscores Kandla’s growing prominence as a key gateway for international container trade.

With a Gross Registered Tonnage (GRT) of 66,280 MT and a Length Overall (LOA) of 276 metres, MV ESL Shekou is among the larger container vessels calling at the port, reflecting the increasing confidence of global shipping lines in Kandla’s infrastructure and operational capabilities.

The introduction of the ECSX Service is expected to strengthen trade linkages between India and key international markets, offering enhanced connectivity, improved service reliability, and greater logistics efficiency for exporters and importers. The maiden call also highlights DPA’s continued efforts to position Kandla as a preferred hub for containerized cargo movement and global maritime commerce.

Welcoming the vessel, DPA emphasized that the new service will contribute to expanding trade opportunities, supporting regional economic growth, and reinforcing India’s maritime connectivity with global supply chains.

Connecting global trade and driving maritime growth, Kandla continues to strengthen its role in India’s evolving logistics and shipping landscape.
