The Aerospace India Association (AIA), the newly formed apex industry body for aerospace design and manufacturing in India on Friday announced that it aims to scale up aerospace exports—currently valued at under $2 billion—by tenfold over the next decade.
“With the Indian aviation market projected to become the world’s third largest by 2030, and aerospace exports currently valued at under $2 billion, AIA is driving a strategic push to expand India’s footprint in the global supply chain,” a statement by the association read.
During the launch of f AIA, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu said there was a need for self-reliance in the aerospace industry. “To strengthen India’s aerospace capabilities, we must create a robust ecosystem for design and manufacturing with maximum value addition within the country. The government is committed to developing a resilient aerospace supply chain and fostering a ‘Made in India’ approach for aircraft and components,” he added.
AIA’s vision plan includes accelerating indigenous aerospace programmes by collaborating with both private and public sector stakeholders and building a globally competitive aerospace supply base.” A key priority is fast-tracking the development of an indigenous regional aircraft program, along with enhancing India’s role in the global aerospace supply chain,” it said.
The association will also focus on fostering international collaborations and forming strategic partnerships with aerospace organizations globally. First president of AIA, FR Singhvi said the association will drive India’s aspirations to become a major aerospace hub. “This is about self-reliance, technological advancements, and a stronger global presence,” he said.
