    Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) has announced a waiver of demurrage charges for brokers until October 15, providing temporary relief to the air cargo trade amid operational challenges and shipment delays.

    The decision follows concerns raised by customs brokers and other stakeholders over cargo clearance and related delays. The waiver is expected to reduce additional costs for shipments that have remained at the airport beyond the normal free period.

    The move comes as the new airport continues to scale up its cargo operations and streamline processes for importers, exporters, freight forwarders and customs brokers. Stakeholders have been seeking measures to minimise the financial impact of delays during the transition period.
